We’re seeking support to develop our site. In the meantime, you’ll find our resources and our commissioned history stories over on the Trans+ History Week hub on QueerAF’s site.

We’ve always
been here

Trans+ History Week is a global week-long observance dedicated to celebrating the history of all gender diverse people – including trans, non-binary and Intersex people.

Founder, Marty Davies, was inspired to create the week after learning of and writing about the first ever Trans+ clinic and the raid by Nazis on May 6th 1933. She pitched the story to QueerAF to mark the 90th anniversary. The story quickly became a tool to shutdown the ‘transgender trend’ lie online.

In November that same year Marty announced plans to mark Trans+ History Day as May 6th each year and for Trans+ History Week to fall on the calendar week it sits in. She said: “the week they tried to erase us is the week we will remember.”

Trans+ History Week is next taking place 5 – 11 May 2025.

Independent LGBTQIA+ nonprofit publisher, QueerAF, supported Marty in its development. Making Trans+ History Week their first launchpad project. Trans+ History Week CIC is now an independent Trans+ led nonprofit. The organisation still works closely with QueerAF to create content, and host events and exhibitions that reflect on history and surface learnings for our present to secure a better future.
